Our client UK Carline is a vehicle leasing business who purchased a haulage site in the designated countryside close to the village of Bilsborrow in Wyre. The site was originally used by them to store and distribute vehicles for lease, although over time fewer vehicles needed to be stored on site as they were delivered directly to the customer by the manufacturer. The predominant use of the site therefore changed, becoming the office base for the growing business.
De Pol were appointed to both regularise the change of use of the site from storage and distribution to Class B1 offices, and to secure planning permission to replace what were large general purpose storage buildings and office portacabins with a more prestigious office headquarters.
Working with the client, architects and other team consultants, De Pol were able to secure planning permission from the Council to convert an existing large storage building into office accommodation, including the insertion of a first floor, windows and other external alterations, together with the demolition of the portacabins and their replacement with a purpose built building for vehicle storage. Permission was also secured for the required change of use of the land.
