400 Houses in North Tyneside

Outline planning permission has been obtained for the redevelopment of a 14 hectare semi-derelict industrial site in North Tyneside for 400 new dwellings, open space, together with landscaping and associated biodiversity works.

In accordance with one of the core planning principles of the National Planning Policy Framework, the proposals represent an effective and efficient use of an underused previously developed site and will help address the Council’s housing shortage in a sustainable manner. The scheme also proposes a high quality residential development with attractive areas of open space and biodiversity enhancement.

Having progressed through the pre-application stage with Council officers and following public consultation exercises, the outline planning application was approved by Committee Members subject to a s.106 Agreement.

The application was supported by a wide range of assessments including Air Quality, Noise, Arboriculture, Ecology, Environmental Impact, Coal Mining, Energy, Flood Risk, Transport, Drainage and Utilities. De Pol managed the project team and application and also prepared the supporting Planning Statement and Statement of Community Involvement. We continue to assist the client in the production of the s.106 Agreement.
