400 Houses in North Tyneside

Outline planning permission has been obtained for the redevelopment of a 14 hectare semi-derelict industrial site in North Tyneside for 400 new dwellings, open space, together with landscaping and associated biodiversity works. In accordance with one of the core planning principles of the National Planning Policy Framework, the proposals represent an effective and efficient use of an underused previously developed site and will help address the Council’s housing shortage in a sustainable manner. The scheme also proposes a high quality residential development with attractive areas of open space, and will incorporate dedicated Butterfly Mitigation Zones to sustain butterfly populations which were discovered during the ecological surveys.
